Saw groundhogs
Roxanne and I drove to Steubenville, OH, for some building materials to make a storage platform on the Unimog. Tyler (my grandson) flew in and will be returning to Alaska with us via the road trip so we need to make some extra room in the RV.
While on the way to Steubenville (which is the home of singer and actor Dean Martin), we passed Toronto, OH, and this was the home of Robert Urich (also an actor) and Clarke Hinkle, a pro football player and Hall of Fame member. We also followed the Ohio River and passed the Sammis Power Plant in Straton, OH, where I started my electrical career, the Cumberland Locks and Dam and a tug boat with a number of barges getting ready to go through the locks.
In the evening, Tony, Joan, Roxanne and I joined Leola Martin and her sister, Gwen Murphy at Gwen’s house, for dinner and a great visit. I grew up with Leola and Gwen, lost touch with them after high school, then reconnected a few years ago. Roxanne and I were fortunate to have Leola come up to visit us in Alaska after we renewed our friendship in the 90’s.
