We went to see Chris at Kingmen Equipment and found out that the generator's cylinder wall has a deep scratch and will have to be bored out. It will take at least two to three weeks to get the parts and complete the work. Since we can't put our trip on hold for that long, we drove back to Las Vegas (we are really getting to know this road and the Hoover Dam area!) to buy a new generator and will have Chris and his crew install it tomorrow. When Chris gets done repairing the old generator, it will go on Ebay; the proceeds will pay for the repair and parts and the remainder will offset the cost of the new generator. Once the new generator is installed, we will be on our way again (sometime tomorrow).
