We drove to Long Beach, CA to visit the factory where Pentagon gun safes are built. I finally ordered one to be built; it will take 6 to 8 weeks to ship. The 30+ year old, family run, Sportsman Steel Safe Company makes a lot of safe for the money and I think I will be happy with it. The safe will be 72” x 60” x 37” and it will hold 60 long guns and 24 hand guns on the door plus a top shelf and 4 shelves on the side. This is a custom-made unit but they have many standard designs to choose from as well.
Now we are off towards Phoenix, AZ. The highway pass between the San Bernadino and San Jacinto Mountain ranges is extremely windy all the time and there are huge wind generator fields all around on the hills. Palm Springs is not too far away but we'll have to visit it another time.
We camped at a rest stop about 84 miles west of the California-Arizona border, in Arizona.
